Your Questions Answered
Everything You Need to Know
Taking the first step toward growth, healing, or transformation can feel uncertain. Here you'll find comprehensive answers about therapy, coaching, speaking services, and what it's really like to work together. If you don't see your question here, I'm always happy to connect personally.
Getting Started
While there's overlap, the distinction matters for your journey:
Therapy (through Hisparadise) focuses on healing past wounds, processing trauma, and addressing mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and relationship struggles. It's archaeological work—understanding why you are the way you are, working through emotional pain, and building healthier patterns from the inside out. Therapy asks: "What happened to you, and how can we heal it?"
Coaching focuses on present circumstances and future aspirations. It's architectural work—designing the life or business you want, optimizing performance, and closing the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Coaching asks: "Where do you want to go, and what's standing in your way?"
I offer both because I believe humans need both healing and growth. Sometimes we'll use one approach; sometimes we'll integrate both. What matters is what serves you best right now.
If you're not sure, you're not alone. Most people struggle to categorize their needs neatly. Here's a practical framework:
Consider therapy if:
- You're experiencing persistent anxiety, depression, or emotional distress
- Past trauma is affecting your present relationships or wellbeing
- You notice destructive patterns you can't seem to break
- Relationships feel consistently painful or confusing
- You want to understand yourself at a deeper level
Consider life coaching if:
- You're navigating a major transition (career change, relocation, life phase)
- You have clear goals but need accountability and strategy
- You want to optimize your personal effectiveness and growth
- You're stuck in decision-making or planning paralysis
Consider business coaching if:
- You're scaling a business and need strategic guidance
- Leadership challenges are holding you or your team back
- You need clarity on business development or positioning
Still unsure? That's what consultation calls are for. Book one and we'll figure out together what will serve you best. There's no wrong door to walk through.
First sessions can feel vulnerable, and that's completely natural. Here's what typically happens:
In our first session: We'll start by building rapport. I'll ask about what brought you here, what you're hoping to achieve, and what matters most to you. This isn't an interrogation—it's a conversation. You share what feels comfortable, and we begin understanding your story together.
What makes my approach different: I don't believe in one-size-fits-all frameworks. Yes, I'm trained in evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care), but I care more about you as a whole person than fitting you into a technique. I bring both professional rigor and authentic human presence.
What you can expect ongoing: Sessions are collaborative. I'll ask questions, offer reflections, provide tools and frameworks, and sometimes challenge you lovingly. But you're not passive—we're partners in this work. Between sessions, you might have practices to experiment with, but this isn't homework you'll be graded on.
Most importantly: there's no "right way" to do this. Some people are ready to dive deep immediately; others need time to build trust. Both are perfectly fine.
I work with people navigating complexity—in their inner worlds, relationships, or professional lives. Specifically:
- Individuals seeking emotional healing, personal growth, or mental health support (anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions)
- Couples working to build healthier relationships, improve communication, or heal from betrayal or disconnection
- Entrepreneurs and founders scaling businesses while trying not to lose themselves in the process
- Professionals and leaders navigating career transitions, developing emotional intelligence, or learning to lead with authenticity
- Organizations seeking workshops, training programs, or keynote speaking on mental health, leadership, or resilience
Most of my clients are adults (18+). I occasionally work with mature adolescents (16-17) on a case-by-case basis, typically with parental involvement.
I especially resonate with people who are reflective, growth-oriented, and willing to do the work—not looking for quick fixes but genuine transformation.

My coaching integrates psychological insight with strategic action—because I bring both therapeutic training and entrepreneurial experience. Here's what makes it distinctive:
Systems Thinking: I don't just help you achieve isolated goals. We examine how different areas of your life or business interconnect, addressing root issues rather than just symptoms.
Emotionally Intelligent Strategy: Many coaches focus only on tactics and execution. I help you understand the internal barriers (fear, self-doubt, unconscious patterns) that sabotage even the best strategies.
Integration, Not Optimization: I'm not here to make you a productivity machine. We work toward wholeness—building a life or business that aligns with your values, not just external metrics of success.
Real-World Experience: As the founder of Jocintek Technology Limited and someone who's built multiple ventures, I understand the psychological and practical realities of entrepreneurship and leadership.
You won't get cookie-cutter frameworks or motivational platitudes. You'll get honest, contextual guidance tailored to your specific circumstances.
I speak on mental health, emotional intelligence, leadership, resilience, and the intersection of personal growth and professional success. My speaking work includes:
- Keynote Addresses: For conferences, corporate events, or organizational gatherings
- Workshops and Training: Interactive sessions on topics like emotional regulation, conflict resolution, trauma-informed leadership, or building resilient teams
- Panel Discussions: Bringing psychological insight to conversations on entrepreneurship, mental health advocacy, or cultural issues
- Organizational Consultations: Working with leadership teams to build healthier workplace cultures
My style is honest, accessible, and grounded—I don't do performative inspiration. I share real insights, practical tools, and lived experience that audiences can actually apply.

I use an integrative, evidence-based approach that draws from multiple therapeutic modalities, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Understanding and shifting thought patterns that create suffering
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills
- Trauma-Informed Care: Approaches that recognize how past trauma shapes present experiences
- Positive Psychology: Building strengths, meaning, and wellbeing—not just reducing symptoms
- Systems Theory: Understanding you within your relational and cultural contexts
But here's what I believe more than any technique: the therapeutic relationship itself is the most powerful agent of change. Research consistently shows that the quality of the relationship matters more than the specific modality used.
So while I bring professional rigor and evidence-based tools, I also bring authentic human presence. You're not a diagnosis or a problem to be solved—you're a whole person deserving of compassionate, contextual care.

Financial Accessibility: I reserve a limited number of sliding-scale slots for those experiencing genuine financial hardship. If cost is a barrier, please ask—we'll explore what's possible.
Currently, I operate as a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a receipt/invoice that you may be able to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan's out-of-network benefits.
Private-pay allows for greater flexibility, confidentiality, and personalized care without insurance company restrictions on session frequency or treatment approaches.
24-Hour Notice Required: Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows me to offer your time slot to another client who may be waiting.
Late Cancellations: Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or no-shows will be charged the full session fee. Your scheduled time is reserved exclusively for you, and last-minute cancellations prevent others from accessing care.
Emergencies: Life happens. If you have a genuine emergency (illness, family crisis, etc.), please let me know as soon as possible. I'm human and I understand—we'll work something out.
Rescheduling: You can reschedule as often as needed with proper notice. Flexibility is part of the process, and I want our sessions to happen when you're truly able to engage.
Session Details
Yes—and most of my clients actually prefer them. I offer:
- Virtual Sessions: Via Zoom or Google Meet (your preference)
- In-Person Sessions: Available for clients in the Asaba, Delta State area
Why virtual works: Research shows virtual therapy and coaching are just as effective as in-person. You get the same quality of care with added convenience—no commute, more scheduling flexibility, and the comfort of your own space. Many clients find they're actually more open in virtual sessions.
For virtual sessions, all you need is a private space, stable internet, and a device with a camera and microphone. I'll send you a secure meeting link before each session.
Session length varies by service type:
- Individual Therapy: 60 minutes (standard therapeutic hour)
- Couples Therapy: 90 minutes (couples work needs more time for both partners to be heard)
- Life Coaching: 60 minutes
- Business Coaching: 90 minutes (allows for deeper strategic work)
Extended Sessions: If you need longer sessions (e.g., intensive work, EMDR processing, or comprehensive business strategy), we can arrange 2-hour or half-day sessions for an additional fee.
Sessions start and end on time to respect both your schedule and the next client's. We'll use our time intentionally and efficiently.
Frequency depends on your needs, goals, and life circumstances. Here's what typically works:
Weekly Sessions:
- Recommended for active therapy (especially trauma work or acute distress)
- Intensive coaching when you're navigating major transitions or building new habits
- Crisis or high-support periods
- The first 4-8 weeks of any new therapeutic relationship
Bi-Weekly (Every 2 Weeks):
- Maintenance therapy after initial intensive work
- Ongoing coaching with time between sessions to implement strategies
- Good balance of support and independence
Monthly:
- Check-ins and accountability for stable clients
- Strategic business coaching focused on high-level planning
- Maintenance after completing deeper work
We'll discuss what makes sense for you during our first session, and we can adjust frequency as your needs evolve. This is collaborative—you're never locked into a rigid schedule.
There's no universal timeline—it depends on what you're working on and what you're hoping to achieve. That said, here are some general patterns:
Short-Term (8-12 sessions): Effective for specific, focused issues—skill-building, acute stressors, goal-setting, or targeted behavioral changes.
Medium-Term (3-9 months): Common for addressing relationship patterns, moderate anxiety/depression, career transitions, or business challenges requiring sustained focus.
Long-Term (9+ months): Deep transformation work—complex trauma, fundamental identity shifts, systemic relationship changes, or building a business/life from the ground up.
I'm not interested in creating dependency. We'll regularly review your progress, celebrate growth, and honestly assess whether continuing, reducing frequency, or concluding makes sense. You're always in control of how long you engage.
Transformation isn't linear. Some breakthroughs happen quickly; others require patience. What matters is that you're moving in a direction that feels right for you.
Confidentiality & Privacy
Yes. Confidentiality is foundational to our work. Everything you share in sessions is completely confidential and protected by professional ethical standards. I take your privacy extremely seriously—your trust is sacred.
The only exceptions (required by law and professional ethics) are rare situations involving:
- Imminent risk of harm: If you're planning to harm yourself or someone else and there's immediate danger
- Child or vulnerable adult abuse: If I have reasonable suspicion of ongoing abuse or neglect
- Court-ordered disclosure: Extremely rare, and only if legally mandated by a judge
Even in these exceptional circumstances, I would discuss the situation with you first whenever possible. Confidentiality isn't just a legal requirement—it's an ethical commitment I honor deeply.
What confidentiality doesn't cover: If you provide written consent, I can communicate with other healthcare providers, legal representatives, or family members. This is always your choice, and you can revoke consent at any time.
I maintain minimal records focused on continuity of care—session dates, key themes we're working on, and important context for our ongoing work. I don't write detailed session transcripts.
Security measures:
- All digital records are encrypted and password-protected
- Stored on secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms
- Access is restricted solely to me—no assistants, no third parties
- Physical records (if any) are kept in locked storage
What I don't do with your information: I will never share, sell, or use your data for any purpose beyond providing you quality care. Your information is not used for marketing, research, or any external purpose without your explicit written consent.
For comprehensive details, see our Privacy Policy.
Yes. I use HIPAA-compliant, encrypted video platforms (Zoom for Healthcare or Google Meet with appropriate security settings) to ensure your sessions are as private as in-person meetings.
What you should do on your end:
- Join sessions from a private space where you won't be overheard or interrupted
- Use headphones if others are in your home
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection
- Use a secure WiFi network (not public WiFi)
Sessions are not recorded unless you explicitly request and consent to recording for your own therapeutic purposes. Even then, recordings are stored securely and deleted after an agreed period.
Working Together
No. As a therapist and coach (not a psychiatrist), I don't prescribe medication. However, if I believe medication might be beneficial as part of your treatment, I can refer you to a trusted psychiatrist for evaluation.
Many of my clients engage in therapy alone. Others combine therapy with medication prescribed by their psychiatrist—this integrated approach can be highly effective, especially for moderate to severe depression, anxiety disorders, or other mental health conditions.
I'm comfortable working collaboratively with psychiatrists and other healthcare providers to ensure you receive comprehensive, coordinated care.
The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective work. If it doesn't feel right, that matters—and it's completely okay to say so.
I encourage you to bring up any concerns during our sessions. Sometimes what feels like "not a fit" is actually discomfort with the growth process itself (which we can work through together). Other times, it's genuinely a mismatch in style, approach, or personality—and that's valid too.
If after a few sessions you don't feel we're the right match, I'll help you find a referral to someone who might be a better fit. There's no shame or judgment in this. What matters most is that you find support that works for you.
You're never obligated to continue working with me. Your wellbeing and comfort come first.
For scheduling and logistics: Yes, absolutely. Reach out anytime via WhatsApp or email to reschedule, ask questions about billing, or handle administrative matters.
For urgent support or clinical issues: Brief check-ins are okay occasionally, especially during difficult periods. However, sessions are the primary space for our therapeutic work. Between-session contact isn't a substitute for scheduled sessions and may incur additional fees if it becomes extensive.
In crisis situations: If you're experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact emergency services (911 or your local crisis line) or go to the nearest emergency room. I'm not available for 24/7 crisis intervention.
We'll establish clear boundaries around communication during our first session to ensure you feel supported without creating dependency or burnout on either side.
This is common, and yes, we can work with it. If one partner is hesitant, we can start with individual sessions focused on relationship dynamics. Sometimes working on your side of the relationship creates shifts that eventually bring the other partner in.
However, genuine couples therapy works best when both partners are present and engaged. If your partner is willing to attend even reluctantly, I recommend starting together. Often, the hesitant partner becomes the most engaged once they experience that therapy isn't about blame—it's about understanding and building together.
If your partner absolutely refuses, individual therapy can still help you understand patterns, improve your communication, and decide what's best for you moving forward.
Taking breaks is normal and sometimes necessary. Life gets overwhelming, finances shift, or you simply need time to integrate what you've learned. All of that is okay.
If you need a pause, just let me know. We can:
- Schedule a "pause session" to process where you are and create a plan for your break
- Reduce session frequency instead of stopping entirely (sometimes monthly check-ins maintain continuity better than a full break)
- Set a tentative return date, or leave it open-ended
You're always welcome to return when you're ready. There's no judgment, no "starting over"—we pick up where it makes sense, incorporating whatever you've learned during your time away.
The door is always open.
Progress isn't always linear, and it doesn't always look like you think it will. Sometimes it's obvious—you feel lighter, relationships improve, goals get achieved. Other times it's subtle—you notice you responded differently in a triggering situation, or you caught a destructive thought pattern before acting on it.
We'll track progress together:
- Regular check-ins about how you're feeling and what's shifting
- Revisiting your initial goals to see what's changed
- Celebrating small wins (they're often the most meaningful)
- Honest conversations when things feel stuck
Some signs of progress my clients have noticed:
- "I'm having the same problems, but they're bothering me less"
- "I noticed I set a boundary without agonizing over it first"
- "I didn't realize how much I'd changed until someone pointed it out"
- "I'm asking better questions of myself now"
If you ever feel stuck or unclear about progress, bring it up. That's part of the work too.
